John McCusker: Born in Bellshill, near Glasgow, in 1973, John began playing whistle aged five and fiddle two years later, forming his first band, Parcel O’Rogues, while still at high school. He joined the legendary Scottish folk outfit Battlefield Band at just 17, remaining with the line-up for the next 11 years, touring extensively around the world and featuring on seven of the band’s albums.
While initially emerging via the folk scene, John has long been renowned for his skill at transcending musical boundaries. As a live guest, he has shared stages with Bonnie Raitt, Patti Smith, Steve Earle, Roseanne Cash, Linda Thompson, the Waterboys, Idlewild, Paolo Nutini and Jools Holland. In the studio, his playing has graced recordings by Mark Knopfler, Paul Weller, Teenage Fanclub, Ocean Colour Scene, and many more. In recognition of his multifarious talents, John was also presented with The Spirit of Scotland award for music in 2001, and was named Musician of the Year at the 2003 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Roddy Woomble: It was at University in Edinburgh that Roddy met Colin Newton and Rod Jones and formed the group Idlewild. The band have gone on to record and release six acclaimed albums and two compilations, Two of these albums debuted in the UK top ten. They have released twelve UK top forty singles and have toured throughout the world, as a headline act, and also as support to REM, U2 and the Rolling Stones amongst others.
in 2006 Roddy released his debut solo album 'My secret is my silence'. The record featured Rod Jones from Idlewild, Ailidh lennon and David Gow from Sons and daughters, and accalimed folk musicians Andy Cutting, Kate Rusby,Ian Carr and Karine Polwart. It was Produced by John McCusker Kris Drever is the son of singer-songwriter Ivan Drever, formerly lead vocalist with Celtic rock supremos WolfstoneKris's earlier live and recorded work includes collaborations with Cathy Ryan of Irish-American supergroup Cherish the Ladies, Scottish fiddlers John McCusker and Bruce MacGregor, Irish accordionist Leo McCann and Gaelic band Tannas, well as tours of the US and South America with the Irish dance show Celtic Fusion. More recently, Kris has increasingly been attracting plaudits for his singing as well as his playing, with his warm, soulfully resonant vocals featuring in five of the thirteen tracks on Fine Friday's debut album. His choice of songs ranges from the traditional Cold Blow and the Rainy Night to Steve Tilston's Slip-Jigs and Reels; from Boo Hewerdine's Hummingbird to the classic Scots ballad The Selkie
