Osiligi Maasai Warriors
The Osiligi Warrior Dance Troupe who captivated audiences in 2005 and 2007 return to Scotland for their 2008 tour. All ages, from 5 to 95, will be enthralled and excited by their natural rhythm and song, not to mention their spectacular leaps in their tribal dancing, which leaves audiences spell bound.All their performances are narrated, and audience participation is a part of the show. The group come from Kenya, about 30 miles from Nairobi where they started to perform for tourists in order to raise money to support the best aspects of their culture.
In recent times, the Maasai have had to adapt to a less nomadic existence, build more permanent settlements and find ways to educate their youngsters. Thanks to previous tours, the troupe have worked wonders in their village improving housing, health and education, and their 2008 tour in Scotland will further these improvements.
